buying online
The shopping basket (also called shopping cart or shopping trolley)
that we have on the Octagon Press site differs from some you will be
familiar with (such as amazon) in that there is no online
processing of financial details for your order. All such processing
(eg the checking of your credit card details and subsequent debiting
of the due amount) occurs when we process your order in person.
The stages in making an order are:
- select the title you want using the "add to basket" link on the title's book page
- select the quantity you require (perhaps choosing between hardback and paperback)
- continue doing this until you have added all the books you want to your basket
- continue from the "view basket" page to the login process
- if you have previously used this order process, you now enter your email address and password and continue. If this is your first order you will have to register your name and address.
- If you have completed the previous steps, you will now be in the logged-in page, There are links here for you to change details or cancel the whole process; alternatively you can continue to the checkout using the "submit payment details" button.
- You are now entering the secure area of the site. Processing is slower here because of the security overhead, so please be patient. Here you add shipping method for orders to countries other than the UK and your payment details. You can pay by credit card, debit card or cheque. Note that there is no checking of card details, so please take care entering them. Finally you click the "process my order" button and confirm the pop up button and wait - remember processing here can be slow; please do not click on the page.
- When the secure message has been sent to our order handling department, the page is replaced with an acknowledgement of your order. You can click the home link to take you back to the Octagon Press home page.
logging in
Logging in is part of the order process. It is where your address details
are retrieved from our data base. To identify you we use your email
address and a password that you have supplied. We don't keep copies
of your password, so if you forget it, we will reset with a temporary
password which will be emailed to you. Because we identify you by your
email address, if you wish to register more than one address, you must
use different email addresses.
registration
If you intend to pay for an order using a credit card, then the address
you register with us must be the address associated with that credit
card. This is because security considerations forbid delivery of orders
to other than the credit card holder's address.
